Enhancing comfort and performance at Lyman B. Goff Middle School
Lyman B. Goff Middle School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island underwent a significant building‑envelope improvement initiative with two key benefits in mind, sustainablity and improved thermal performance. The project centered on replacing aging windows with high‑performance Winco systems. Winco’s 4410S Single Hung and 1450S Hung Replica windows, which included Guardian's advanced SunGuard SN-68, double-silver low E coating and Technoform warm-edge spacers, were selected to preserve the school’s traditional architectural character while delivering the performance goals.
Technoform’s warm‑edge spacers were incorporated into the glazing system to help reduce heat transfer at the edges of insulated glass units contributing to improved energy efficiency and overall envelope performance.
The window replacement project at Goff Middle School demonstrates how thoughtful material selection—paired with high‑performance technologies such as Technoform warm‑edge spacers— dramatically improves the thermal performance of the building among other benefits including:
- Improved thermal performance and occupant comfort
- Improved condensation resistance
- Reduced energy consumption
- Maximizing daylight
- Noise reduction
- Preservation of historical aesthetics
This project stands as a model for K‑12 building‑envelope modernization that balances tradition with high performance.
